In a collection of personal stories and essays, award-winning and bestselling artists from Matt de la Peña and Veera Hiranandani to Max Brallier and R.L. Stine write about how hope always wins, even in the darkest of times.
H-O-P-E. It may be just a four-letter word, and sometimes the sentiment feels equally small, but this collection of real-life stories from extraordinary authors demonstrates the profound significance of even a flicker of hope. The book explores themes such as the loss of a cherished grandmother, dealing with a school bully, the significance of one’s name, and even a ghostly encounter, all interconnected by the thread of HOPE. Even a tiny spark can guide someone to a brighter side where life is more fulfilling, richer, and meaningful. This book might resonate with a middle grader in need of reassurance that hope can be found in unexpected places, whether across the kitchen table or deep within themselves. It comes highly recommended for all tween and teen readers, inspiring them to think, dream, and most importantly, to HOPE!

For reading aloud and reading by yourself from 8 to 12 years.

WE LOVE IT BECAUSE:

A delightful assortment of tales for younger readers that resonated deeply with me as an adult. I found myself crying six times while listening to this audiobook, each tear a reflection of genuine emotion. As an extra perk, the proceeds from this collection directly support the North Texas Teen Book Festival, which is co-founded by the editor, Dr. Rose Brock!
