About the brand

Our mission at pandoo is to reduce pollution and deforestation. Wherever possible, we try to avoid single-use products altogether. Unfortunately, there is not yet a sustainable alternative for all of these products. We are trying to develop more sustainable alternatives by making them from natural and fast-growing raw materials such as bamboo. All of our products are made in such a way that they can be easily and conveniently placed in your home. This small change is good for our planet alone. Because every little plastic product you avoid in your everyday life makes a difference.

Cotton is not suitable for disposable products

According to the WWF, the water consumption of one kilogram of conventional cotton is up to 10,000 liters. For a single cotton pad, this means 4 liters of water. And that's just for the production of the raw material; additional water and energy consumption occurs in the production of the cotton pads themselves.

From this perspective, it is a waste of valuable resources that millions of cotton pads are thrown away every day after just a few seconds of use.

Organic cotton to protect our soils

Conventional cotton is grown with massive use of pesticides and fertilizers. A study by the Munich Environmental Institute showed that pesticide use per hectare in Germany has increased by 24.3% since 1994. Pesticides not only harm useful insects such as bees, but also the fertility of the soil. By growing organic cotton, we avoid the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. This way you can be sure that your makeup removal pads have not destroyed the habitat of bees or butterflies!

plastic-free packaging

Conventional cotton pads are packaged in plastic, contributing to the global waste problem. In fact, plastic packaging is one of the ten most commonly found types of waste in the ocean. With the pandoo reusable makeup removal pads, the packaging is now also 100% biodegradable.

FAQs

Can the makeup removal pads remove waterproof makeup/eye makeup?

This works without any problems. For gentle cleansing, we recommend using coconut oil for waterproof make-up: the oil dissolves the make-up and can then be easily removed with the make-up removal pad.

In general, we recommend moistening the pads with lukewarm water when using very liquid care products so that the absorbent pads do not absorb too much of the lotion.

Are the makeup removal pads suitable for facial toner or are they too absorbent?

The makeup removal pads are rather absorbent, so we recommend moistening the makeup removal pad with water beforehand and then applying the facial toner as a film over it. Toners, i.e. more nourishing facial toners, are best applied directly to the face.

How do I clean the makeup removal pads again?

The pads can be easily washed in the bag at 40°C on a delicate or gentle cycle.

The makeup removal pads are not suitable for the dryer.

If the pads are very dirty (from very pigmented or charcoal-containing cosmetic products), the make-up removal pads can be pre-washed. To do this, simply rinse the pad under the tap after cleansing your face. If the pad is very dirty, place it in lukewarm water with a little bit of soap for a few minutes.

My pads are no longer as soft as they were at the beginning...

Due to the friction that occurs during use and due to frequent washing, the pads can lose some of their softness over time. This is unavoidable with textile products. To avoid this as long as possible, we recommend using a little table vinegar or vinegar essence when washing (the laundry won't smell of vinegar afterwards, don't worry!).

Why is the sewing thread made of polyester?

We decided to use polyester thread so that the makeup removal pads are much more durable than with cotton thread. Our goal is for the reusable pads to accompany our everyday heroes for as long as possible.

The polyester content is less than 1%.

Can you remove nail polish with makeup remover pads?

We have not tested or had the pads tested on nail polish (or nail polish remover) because we do not want to actively promote this. Most nail polishes contain plastic, which means that microplastics would end up directly in the wastewater during the wash cycle.
